The Ship is a walk-through experience that I designed and built for Halloween 2023. It evokes the lower hold of a long abandoned pirate’s ship in which a ghastly event took place many hundreds of years ago. In addition to the set and props, I used lighting effects and sound design—including a recording of passages from the captain’s log—to immerse the visitor in a truly frightening experience.

The Building Process 

The main structure was built from new lumber for strength and stability. To give the ship an instantly aged look—and to save money— I used reclaimed wood pallets, scaffolding boards, wine barrels, and tires donated by local businesses.
